Texas School for the Deaf
1102 South Congress Avenue, Austin 78704
10:00am-4:00pm
Join Design Austin and the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) for a hands-on community workshop and public debut of ATX Voices, a new sculpture collaboration between TSD students and volunteer designers from Design Austin. We will have a booth at TSD’s Homecoming event, when the campus is open to all! The sculpture is a series of hands that spells out “ATX” in American Sign Language, alongside the sign for the Texas School for the Deaf Ranger mascot, engraved with the student’s hopes, dreams, and pride in being as members of the Deaf community in Austin and beyond. Part of the installation will be temporarily displayed near the booth, which will feature an all-ages activity that will be collected and featured in ATX Voices promotion. All are welcome!
ATX Voices is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department.

ATX Voices is a partnership with Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) in south Austin. Guided by TSD students over the 2024-25 school year, volunteer designers from Design Austin and artist/fabricators will create a large-scale 3D moveable installation that introduces the students to the public on their terms. The resulting sculpture(s) will be unveiled at TSD’s public Homecoming event in October 2025 and then reinstalled around Austin to foster discussions around inclusivity and the importance of shared narratives. Accessible experiences featuring the installation will engage not only Austin’s design community, but also disability communities and those who care about and for them – as well as passers-by and visitors to the work.
